Welcome members of the
Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance
Secure Life, an individual life
insurance product and underwritten by
ACE INA Canada is
now available to persons aged 20 to 65 with congenital heart problems for up to
$500,000 of 20 year Term Life Insurance even if they have been declined coverage
from one of the main stream insurers.
Talk to anyone who has a serious health problem and they will
tell you the importance of having life insurance.
As we age our health deteriorates; it's just a fact. Buying life and health
insurance protection when one is healthy is the smart thing to do.
But what about the more than 180,000 Canadian children and adults who were born
with a congenital heart defect?
Congenital heart patients clearly understand the need for life insurance.
They want it, they need it but they can't get it, until now.
Medical science is way ahead of the insurance industry when it comes to taking
care of the needs of the congenital heart defect patients. Doctors can detect
and repair heart defects sooner and with a much greater success rate than 20
years ago but main stream insurance companies don't recognize this dramatic
increase to life expectancy.
Until now the only life insurance option was Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance,
(also known as "final needs or burial insurance), for people over age 40. These
products offer a maximum coverage amount of only $25,000 and do not meet the
needs of the younger person.
Each application is fully medically underwritten. The applicant will complete
an application, answer medical questions and may be required to provide blood
and urine samples depending on the amount of coverage. Additionally, a statement
from the applicant's doctor will be ordered. All costs of underwriting
are covered by the insurer.
While not all applicants will be accepted, many will be able to obtain this much
needed insurance protection. It is truly exciting news for this group of people.
This insurance coverage was not designed solely for heart patients and coverage
may be available to many otherwise uninsurable individuals.

patients, many of whom require lifelong expert care.
